In the wake of the devastating mudslide and floods that claimed over 400 lives in Sierra Leone last month, Koala has contributed to relief efforts to help support survivors. The relief mission was spurred by Catherine Kassar and Rama El Hassan, both year 11 students of Al Rayan International School.
“We had always thought of helping people on a global scale and we found that the tragic natural disaster that struck Sierra Leone, was an affordable opportunity for us to take action. Our group, Basma, has been able to embark on many social outreach projects and has become one of our many international achievements.”- Catherine & Rama
By soliciting businesses and individuals, Catherine and Rama managed to pull together hundreds of boxes of food provisions and more than 100 mattresses.
Many families have suffered losses as a result of this disaster and we are deeply saddened by this. At Koala, we value family. We also understand the importance of lending a helping hand in times like this. This is why we decided to contribute to the efforts of these young ladies in bringing adequate help to survivors. It is our hope that our contribution will be useful in rebuilding the lives of these survivors and give them hope for a better tomorrow.
